Now that we've completed our first full marathon, we asked ourselves, "What's next?"
Well, the first item of business was new kicks. Between the training and actual race, we'd put lots of miles on our marathon shoes. As a result, it was time for replacements, but I didn't mind. That's because retiring old running shoes has become somewhat of a cherished ritual. Their stains, scuffs, worn soles and eroded treads are tangible evidence of not only great distances traveled, but great commitment and accomplishment too. So, we each adopted a new, flawless pair to break in and begin the cycle again.

Only three days following the marathon, when all of our aches and soreness had virtually vanished, we jumped right back into running. We immediately started a new training schedule to prepare for our next race, the Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon, on August 14. Since it's only a half marathon, that makes us only half crazy now, right?
