Country and Bliss

How often do you get the chance to see a concert that's reasonably priced and nearby?  For us, the answer is pretty much never.  Allow me to explain.  The closest location hosting well-known bands is Albuquerque, which is a 3-hour drive from Las Cruces.  By the time we travel all that way and pay for gas, hotel and tickets, our date is anything but convenient.

So, we were rather surprised and thrilled to hear that Eli Young Band was scheduled to perform an outdoor summer concert at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.  Did I mention that is was only an hour away and had an admission fee of nada?  Needless to say, we were all over that like spines on a cactus.

When concert day arrived, we loaded up the folding chairs, picked up the country-lovin' Donnellys and headed down to military central, Fort Bliss.  It was as hot as a summer day in a desert drought... literally.  Despite the heat,  we enjoyed a very entertaining evening with dear friends and live music, rocking the night away to "Crazy Girl", "It Was Always a Love Song" and other EYB favorites.
